I enjoyed photographing Maroba Aged Care facility’s recent concert day. The marketing department wanted to show the facility active and in it’s best light. So the brief was to capture engaging and creative event photography images. I have photographed a few events at Maroba now and each time it’s been fun and uplifting.
Maroba is at Waratah, a suburb west of Newcastle adjacent to the Mater Hospital. This facility has a view right into Newcastle City and you can see Newcastle East and the ocean.
It was a great day of fun and laughter to see the residents meet some pets from a local farm. Many of the residents navigate their way around in walkers assisted by staff who are also warm and friendly. The rapport that staff have with these residents is harmonious and it’s indicative of the culture at Maroba.
At the event residents were treated to a facial in the new Day Spa Facility at Bluegum Lodge. The staff chose two ladies-Mildred and Pam to be photographed in the Day Spa. These two are inseparable and are often called B1 and B2 lik ethe characters from ABC show Bananas in pajamas for their togetherness.
It was rewarding to create some memorable portraits showing the fun and liveliness of all residents and staff. And currently Maroba is one of the most awarded facilities here in Newcastle.
And all of the staff at this facility have a love of people similar to myself, so naturally I was a perfect fit for this event photography shoot.
Because I photographed the residents in a candid way it gave Maroba’s marketing team a variety of engaging images.
